Officially Feeling It!

It’s this time of the year again and it just recently sunk in me. It has been a great start for December.

I’m officially feeling it!

Merry Christmas everyone! 🙂

Compensatory November

Dear November,

You’ve been kicking me off like I’ve been punished from being a bad kid in school. I have been very nice as a matter of fact. Anyway, since the last week of October I have been very busy with work. Is that the priming stage November? Getting me ready for your whole 30 days?

All those back to back trainings, overtimes and all made me an insomniac. Even my subconscious gives me dreams about work! Imagine that?! Can I sleep in peace? Not the all-through-out peace though. But you know what November? Despite all those about-to-give-my-resignation-letter phase, you have given me the best compensatory Saturdays with my most favorite people to hang-out with. Covering up distress with eustress is not ideal but thank you for the most amazing Saturday nights turned into Sunday mornings. That crazy night crashing in a barrio feast was awesome. As an adult, it was my first time going into a local disco. Most locals call it ‘diskoral’. I have been to that when I was little according to my  mom but I can no longer remember. 🙂

Anyway, thank you November for great Saturday hang-outs. I would miss half of my life if it didn’t happen.

Going Domestic in the Island of Bohol

I never thought I’d go domestic again, but it felt so good to have that girls scout camping vibe.

It really was girl-scouting again when my girlfriends and I went to our friend’s (Peter) place in Bohol. It’s an island called Getafe and we were specifically located in Nasingin, another secluded island, as I would describe it, in Getafe, Bohol (Nasingin, Getafe, Bohol).

What do you expect in an island?

Well, if you’re a total city girl, you can’t survive a day without easy transportation, gadgets, appliances and most of all electricity. You can’t find those in Nasingin. Fortunately, Peter’s house is a notch higher to all other houses in the island, not that I discriminate though. They got a very nice flat screen television which I don’t have, they’re the only house with generator in the island and a big room of tank for water to fill in. It feels provincial (or can I say island-ish) because electricity/ generator only goes on from 6pm until 9pm. So my girls and I got caught up with the situation, thank God I’ve got the most adaptive friends ever (Dili mi arte noh!). We’re all used to the city life but we can be domesticated too. 🙂 So proud of my girls that we’ve managed two days not complaining on anything, if there was though, it was the heat. Cheers to girls united!

“We are as indestructible as we believe ourselves to be.” – John Green

The mind works in ways that we don’t always comprehend. We ask ourselves why, yet no answers arrive to us. Our thoughts determine our outlook on life. The events in our lives get filtered by our perception; one that we have nurtured and adapted to our environment. We are what we think. We feel what we think. We behave according to our thoughts. Keep that in mind. Remember it. Tell yourself that even though you cannot change the events in your life, you can change the way you think about them.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” – Viktor E. Frankl

Who I am and why I’m here

Blogging University Assignment

I’m Jouana.

I started blogging about four years ago, out of depression (just a little) from separation of my previous work last 2011. Since then I have been blogging from time to time but still I can’t consider myself a blogger. This is the reason why I enrolled as a student in the Blogging University. 🙂

The main reason I blog is because I love writing. Writing is my outlet, my therapy. I created my first blog entry because I greatly missed my work back then. Since writing comes with reading, aside from reading a lot of books, I love reading other people’s blogs. I am fascinated by what they post on their site. I realized that they are a lot of things you can do in blogging. Writing has its own benefits, for me it’s therapeutic, and it lets me express myself in my own world. Blogging gives you more, it empowers you not in a negative way though. It gives you freedom to express and more importantly, it allows you to share, connect and be heard.

As I blog, I would love to connect with people who share the same interests I have — psychology, books (YA), music and films that touches the human heart. I would also like to write about anything fun.

I would love to be an accomplished blogger and I think being a part of this Blogging University greatly helps. So bring it on WordPress!

Rainy Day’s Tune

Rainy days are here, well at least in the Philippines. You know when they say the weather sets your moods, well here is my rainy day’s tune.

I can totally relate to this lyrics. Imagine Dragons gives a different set of sounds to its beat.

“Cha-Ching (Till We Grow Older)”

I don’t sleep so well at night
Waiting up and shivering
Heater’s gone and money’s tight
In this little home that I’m living inYou’ve got to live your life
While your blood is boiling
Those doors won’t open
While you stand and watch them[2x]
Oh oh oh,
What is with you?
Oh oh oh,
I’ve never seen this side of youHey

We are all living
Till we grow older
You be the worker
I’ll be the soldier

[2x]
I never hear those sounds that sing to me
Cha ching, cha ching, cha ching-a-ling

I don’t think it’s quite the same
Just running out to feel the rain
Staring as the stars parade
Are they telling me it’s gonna be okay?

You’ve got to live your life
While your blood is boiling
Those doors won’t open
While you stand and watch them

Oh oh oh,
What is with you?
Oh oh oh,
I’ve never seen this side of you

Hey

We are all living
Till we grow older
You be the worker
I’ll be the soldier

[2x]
I never hear those sounds that sing to me
Cha ching, cha ching, cha ching-a-ling

(Oh, oh, oh,)

We are all living
Till we grow older
You be the worker
I’ll be the soldier

[2x]
I never hear those sounds that sing to me
Cha ching, cha ching, cha ching-a-ling

(Till we’re older….)

Gabii sa Kabilin 2015

I have been longing to go to this once a year event. I just don’t have the time and the company. Fortunately, this year, I have found both — time and company.

I am becoming a history buff recently and I realized that I have to refresh my own local history. This event just fits in everything I wanted in my sort of ‘bucket list’.

Gabii sa Kabilin is held once a year for a night, every last Friday of May. Gabii means evening while kabilin means inheritance, so it  technically means “Evening of Inheritance”.

My friend Clarice and I were just being spontaneous and went on with any route that comes. We just followed where the bus would lead next.

There were lots of route stops for the event. One night is not enough to get to those places, we got tired a long the way. We only went to four places, not bad though. It was fun and interesting, plus Clarice is never boring to be with.

I hope to go to other route stops next year – Gabii sa Kabilin 2016 soon!  🙂

Ciao!
